Dark green leaves in broad fans are semi-evergreen and scented and flavoured of liquorice/anise when crushed. Used in Thai cooking, and as tea. Medicinally used to treat loss of appetite, gastritis and depression. Good as a marginal or bog plant and also suitable for small water features as well as ponds.
